Kniha vypráví o Jakubovi, který bydlí na kopci v malém domku s tetou Bečkovou a Brčkovou.Jeho rodiče snědl v Londýně rozzuřený nosorožec který utekl z londýnské zoo.Tety zakázaly Jakubovi hrát si s dětmi a pořád mu poroučely aby utřel prach, umyl nádobí, nasekal dříví a tak dále. Jednoho dne začala na broskvi růst broskev. Když teta Bečková a Brčková viděly tu broskev, začaly se hádat, kdo bude mít větší kus. Ale najednou začala broskev růst. Rostla tak dlouho, až byla hrozně veliká. Druhý den Jakub prošel okolo broskve a viděl tam díru, ve které bylo světlo. Vešel do broskve, kde viděl žížaláka, stonožníka, paní pavoučici, berušku, světlušku a cvrčka. Jakub se nejdříve bál, ale překvapilo ho že zvířata mluvila, měla příjemný hlas a byla velice přátelská. Vyprávěl jim, jak moc by se chtěl z domku na kopci ve kterém bydlel dostat a nato mu odpověděli,že to klidně zařídí. Všichni vylezli a tlačili do broskve, až se broskev rozjela z kopce. A pod kopcem spadli vody. Všichni se báli ale Jakub nepřestával přemýšlet. Najednou řekl, ať paní pavoučice začne vyrábět hedvábné provazy, aby mohl udělat lasa a chytit racky. Když měl asi 300 racků, začala broskev vzlétat. Letěli velice dlouho, až byli nad americkým městem New York, kde začal Jakub vypouštět racky a začali klesat. V New York se nabodli na vysokou budovu. Od té doby všichni začali žít v New Yorku. Stonožník se stal vedoucím ve společnosti Baťa, Žížalák se stal hvězdou v reklamách a Pavoučice pracuje v cirkusu. Světluška svítí v lampě, kterou drží v ruce Socha svobody. Cvrček hraje v kapele a beruška se provdala za hasiče. Jakub žije v městském parku.
Můj názor na tuto knihu je že je to další podařené dílo Ronalda Dahliho. Knihu jsem dostal k Vánocům líbil se mi úvodní obrázek.
